Our shih-tzu Starla passed away today. She would have been 15 on her birthday in September. She gave us the most wonderful 15 years and we were blessed to have had her in our lives.
If you are wondering about her, here is a picture of her – dressed as an Ewok for the Animal Planet Halloween Charity event and costume competition that she and Remy WON (Mark and I were just accessories, they were the show).
Our emergency back-up auxiliary dog Remy is still going strong and will miss her Starla.
Starla was named for two things – the beautiful white star on the top of her head and the beautiful song “Starla” by the Smashing Pumpkins.
She was our little star.
Starla was really a cutie. I’m so sorry to hear about your loss. Did you know there’s a legend about the white on the Shih Tzu’s head? “A flash of white on the forehead is the place where he [Buddha] laid his finger in blessing, as the noble puppies and ancestors of the Buddha’s own Little Lion, parade past him, proudly preparing for birth.” From the website for the Shih Tzu Fanciers of Southern CA. Take care.
